GM Canada corporate requirements initiated this renovation, which added a service drive through to an existing structure, a complete retrofit and upgrade for the show room and intricate civil changes. On top of this, the existing shop was increased in size, and renovated. Working closely with the architect and owner through the budget and design of this difficult renovation enabled the client to make decisions early on significant items that affected the overall budget.
Because of the age of the building, significant code upgrades were required, most notably with fire ratings. Using phased and compartmentalized construction, we were able to complete areas of the building and hand over to the client for operations. We worked closely with their IT department to ensure smooth transitions of their staff and computer operations. In the end, the sales and service departments were able to work uninterrupted through the construction, and the customer experience continued to be positive.
