For more than 70 years, the Hornby Island Co -op has been an important part of everyday island

life. AFC was selected as Construction Manager to help deliver a new purpose -built store

designed to serve the community for generations to come.

 

AFC became involved during pre -construction, supporting design coordination, constructability

reviews, budgeting, procurement planning, and value management. The approximately 12,000 ft²

new store features a timber -frame structure integrated with steel components.

 

A defining aspect of the project is completing construction while the existing Co operational. Remote -island construction adds another layer of complexity, requiring detailed

planning for workforce transportation, ferry -dependent deliveries, equipment, and materials.
